While Champ Car president Dick Eidswick was downplaying a possible conflict between Champ Car and the promoters of the Montreal Molson Indy, that didn't stop Champ Car's ultimate boss from being more pointed source: paddocktalk.com The Globe and Mail is reporting that when Kevin Kalkhoven was asked about Norman Legault, he is quoted as having suggested that the promoter was "keeping his options open." The publication seemed to believe that option was NASCAR. Why ? Well, it turns out the Molson and Legault were hosting NASCAR officials over the weekend. The PaddockTalk Perspective: And thus begins the reasons why conspiracy theories were being developed that the Montreal promoter wasn't helping the Champ Car race thrive. One thing we'd note. If Champ Car fans wanted to see the race, they could have gone and seen the race. It's not like the venue was stopping them from coming in the gates. Lack of promotion doesn't stop fans from coming to the track, it only impedes new fans from coming in.
