Three year contract or no three year contract, the Champ Car World Series
Portland race may be in trouble because of a lack of local support, and a
potential out clause

The Business Journal of Portland is reporting that:
The Champ Car Business Coalition has received only $225,000 toward its goal of
collecting $500,000 from the business community. It has another $75,000 in
"informal" commitments. The coalition wants the city and state to cover the
remaining $200,000 and become the title sponsor of the June 19 race.
With the City of Portland in a $16.4 million budget shortfall... it isn't
considered a priority.
The PaddockTalk Perspective:
The article does state that the 2005 race isn't threatened. Which is the good
news in this particular rumor.
As for the future in the great beyond....
We shall see.
