The Toronto Star is quoting Tracy as saying, "That (the lack of sponsors) is
leaving the teams unhealthy. You're leaving the drivers hanging by a thread.
About 50 per cent of the drivers have to bring money."
Tracy then talked about the European sponsors supporting the younger drivers and
the North American sponsors aren't supporting the North American drivers. He
said, "My asking price is $3 million (U.S.) a drive. I'm not getting any younger
and these guys are bringing money and are just as fast. So I have to look at
things realistically as to what I want to do."
Tracy also mentions an interest in NASCAR if the series were to race in Canada.
The paper also discloses another interesting tidbit. Tracy indicates that he
understands Patrick Carpentier's decision to leave for the IRL. Paul said, "He
had an offer on the table last summer, he was going to get paid, it was a
guaranteed deal. With a wife and kids he didn't want to be hung out there."
