The Chicago round of the Champ Car World Series powered by Ford has been
dropped from the 2003 schedule, according to an announcement on CART.com.
The decision has been expected within the CART camp for sometime after last
year's race attracted disappointing crowd figures and should the series return
to the city in the future it is expected to take the form of a downtown street
race.
According to the release: "Champ Car officials have postponed the event for
this year but are in discussions with city officials to bring the series back to
the Windy City in future years."
Other schedule changes include bringing forward the Mid-Ohio round to its
traditional slot of August 10 from August 17, while the Molson Indy Montreal
date has been brought forward two weeks to August 24.
