The Champ Car World Series may have chosen to omit the planned race in Beijing,
China from the intended schedule for the 2006 season but as the series
explained, that doesn't necessarily mean they won't be racing there next
year.
source: crash.net With 15 dates announced for next season and Champ Car co-owner Kevin Kalkhoven stating that 16 would be the preferred number, a race in China is still on the cards as originally intended but as the series' executive vice president of development, governmental affairs and planning, Joe Chrnelich explained, no event would be announced until it was absolutely set in stone. "For those of you who haven't been to China, Kevin [Kalkhoven] and I have, it is a very different culture," said Chrnelich. "How they do business, they're quite frankly catching up to global standards on how you do business. "Our discussions are very, very deliberate, painstaking at times because they are very detailed in nature and they want to learn. But we have not completed those discussions. Until we get those done and they're satisfied and we're satisfied, we're not going to be in a position to announce." Champ Car's failure to confirm a date in China for 2006 (yet) isn't down to a lack of effort, for the Pacific Rim is an area the series is keen to make a big impact on. With the as-yet unseen Korean venue already confirmed for a second year in 2006, a return to Japan (but not Motegi) seems to the a target for a third Far East venue in 2007.
