Conquest Racing's Jan Heylen has best finish of the season in sixth position source: conquestracing.com Jan Heylen (#34 Grafiprint / Cosworth / DP01 / Bridgestone) finished in sixth position for today's Champ Car Generac Grand Prix at Road America, his third top-ten finish in as many races. His goal today was to make the event into a three pitstop race while setting a quick pace. Throughout the race, Jan was strongly encouraged by both Don Bricker, team engineer, and Chris Mower, team manager, to hit a target fuel consumption which would help him to avoid a fourth pit stop but not lose the fast pace which would keep him from being overtaken. At the same time as Jan's fuel saving strategy was being played out, Heylen and Tristan Gommendy battled for positions four times throughout the race. In the end, Jan was able to hold him off and finish ahead of the rookie Frenchman. The Conquest Team had excellent pit stops which helped Jan in his chase and fortunately, his fuel saving worked and the supply held out for the race, running out just half a lap past the checkered flag forcing him to be towed back to pit lane. Today's sixth position is the best finish of the Belgian's 2007 season.
