Coyne said the German market should be a natural
for CART.
source: CART.com - Robin Miller Dale Coyne Racing will be back on the track for next week's season finale in Mexico City with a young German driver who figures to generate some big television numbers in his homeland. Andre Lotterer, a 20-year-old British Formula 3 and Formula One test driver, will make his Champ Car debut in Coyne's No. 19 Ford-Cosworth/Lola at the Gran Premio Telmex/Gigante Presented by Banamex/Visa. "This came about because of our German connection and German television is going to broadcast the Mexico race so it should have a good presence," said Coyne from his shop in suburban Chicago. "Obviously, there is a lot of interest in auto racing in Germany with Michael Schumacher." It will be Coyne's second start of 2002 and he knows Lotterer will be hard-pressed to duplicate the debut of Darren Manning last September at Rockingham Motor Speedway in Corby, England, where the Brit came from 17th to ninth. "We tested Andre at Sebring and it went pretty well, but he's only 20 and he didn't get to do as much testing at Jaguar as he wanted," continued Coyne, whose new shoe competed in British Formula 3 in 2001 and did some testing for Jaguar but has not been in a regular series this season.
