Mario Dominguez is to join Dale Coyne Racing for the fifth round of the Champ Car World Series season this weekend in Portland - drawing to a close a quick reshuffle of the 2006 driver line-up. source: crash.net The Mexican arrives at Dale Coyne having split from Forsythe just four races into the season after a difficult start to the year that saw him involved in contact with team-mate Paul Tracy at both Long Beach and Milwaukee - the latter seeing Champ Car officials dock Dominguez points for 'unavoidable contact'. That penalty means Dominguez joins his new team in joint fourth in the standings and while he admitted it wouldn't be the easiest of weekends in Portland, he was thankful to Dale Coyne and his team for giving him the chance to race. "I am very pleased that Dale has given me this opportunity," Dominguez said. "I also want to say thank you to Telmex and to Bridgestone for the support they have shown in difficult times - that is when you can really measure who is on your side and who is not. "We are going to see what we can do this weekend. Obviously we do not arrive at Portland as the most competitive team, but this is a serious opportunity to see if we can move up the order." Dominquez's signing draws to a close a shuffle of the pack that has seen three drivers swap seats in the space of a week. It all started when RuSPORT announced that it was parting company with AJ Allmendinger, with the former 'rookie-of-the-year' being replaced by former series champion Cristiano da Matta who made the switch from Dale Coyne. When Dominguez then left Forsythe earlier this week, it opened the door for Allmendinger to join Tracy at Forsythe, leaving Dale Coyne as the only logical choice for Dominguez to remain on the grid - the Mexican getting the seat despite speculation linking both Ryan Hunter-Reay and Ronnie Bremer with a return to the series.
