F1: No action against Marussia for Maria de Villota crashThe former Formula 1 team known as Marussia will not face action over the Duxford airfield crash that led to Maria de Villota’s crash, and subsequent death.
Spain’s Maria de Villota received major head injuries and lost her right eye in the accident where she hit the back of a support truck when testing the Marussia F1 car, July 3rd, 2012. She sadly died one year later, in October 2013 'as a consequence of the neurological injuries she suffered' in the crash. An internal investigation carried out by Marussia – which is now rebranded as Manor Grand Prix Racing following their bailout early this year – “excluded the car as a factor in the accident”. The news of the Health and Safety Executive’s investigation coming to a conclusion will result in no action being taken against any party involved in the accident. |
