Wheldon's image on Borg-Warner Trophy unveiled during theme gala
source: indycar.com / By Dave Lewandowski Dan Wheldon was concerned about his image - the one recently attached to the most famous trophy in sports. After seeing his sculpted silver face on the Borg-Warner Trophy during the announcement of the 90th Indianapolis 500 theme - "Celebrate the Spectacle" -- he could rest easy. Check out the photo gallery from announcement. "I was wondering what kind of hairstyle they were going to use on the 'mini me' shall we say," said Wheldon, who won the 89th running of the 500-Mile Race from the 16th starting position in an Andretti Green Racing-prepared car. "It's great to finally see my face on the trophy and get my hands on the 'Baby Borg.' '' Wheldon, also the reigning IndyCar Series champion, on Jan. 18 accepted the Driver's Championship Trophy from BorgWarner Co. chairman and CEO Tim Manganello during the Automotive News World Congress Gala in Dearborn, Mich. He had a firm grip on the sterling silver trophy, which also contains a hand-crafted three-dimensional sterling silver image of the winning driver's face. "It's the race that you're most desperate to win in your life, and yet you win the race in May but don't get the trophy until January, so that's kind of a hard one to swallow," said Wheldon, who begins testing with his new team, Target Chip Ganassi Racing, next week at Phoenix International Raceway.
