Eighteen-year old rookie phenom Ranger has tested during the off-season for both Forsythe and Eric Bachelart's Mi-Jack/Conquest team and young Ranger definitely will race Champ cars this year for either Forsythe or Bachelart. The youngster from Quebec won't celebrate his nineteenth birthday until November, after the end of the season, and if Ranger winds up teamed with Nelson Philippe in Bachelart's team they surely will be the enfants terrible of the series.

Tall, poised and wide-eyed, Ranger belies his tender, teen-aged years. He speaks proudly and directly, with little emotion, and is clearly a very cool, precise driver. Ranger started racing karts when he was ten years old, competing in both Canada and Europe where he won a Danish karting championship in 2001. He won the Canadian Formula A kart title in 2002 and was presented with the Gilles Villeneuve Trophy as Quebec's most promising young racer.

Ranger got everyone's attention when he moved up to cars in 2003 following his sixteenth birthday. Racing in the Renault-powered FranAm series, Andrew immediately showed his ability as he won the championship in style by winning five of thirteen races and took the Gilles Villeneuve Trophy for the second year in a row.

Ranger moved up to Toyota/Atlantic last year, paired with Ryan Dalziel in the Sierra Sierra team. Although he didn't win a race Andrew made the podium six times with a pair of seconds at Long Beach and Toronto and four thirds at Milwaukee, Portland, Elkhart Lake and Laguna Seca. He finished fourth in the championship behind Jon Fogarty, Ryan Dalziel and Danica Patrick, and won the rookie of the year title which earned him a Champ Car test with the Forsythe team at Sebring at the end of November.

"I had a full day and I really enjoyed it," Andrew grins. "It was unbelievable how much power you have. There's so much power! But that's what a driver likes and I found it was a fun car to drive. That day was incredible."
