Time sure flies, almost as fast as the cars of Champ Car themselves every race weekend. source: paddocktalk.com - Brad Gerhart And Road America, obviously was no exception. The circuit is a gorgeous place to race Champ Cars. Both the track and the series together very well. Although the rain may have put a damper on things Friday and Saturday, it couldn't prevail on Sunday. Drivers might have preferred better weather, however the changing conditions brought in rare, unique on-track scenarios for the fans around the circuit. Of course the crew chiefs, team engineers had their hands full. Trying to decide on the setups and strategies to put in place for each timed session. It was an awesome sight to see. The birds flying around the venue say that next year will be even better. It's expected that the ALMS cars are set to join Champ Car next year. Which should give the fans a wild summer weekend in Wisconsin. This year's Champ Car event attracted over 60,000 people. Could that double with ALMS ? Atlantic Series Unfortunately, the Atlantic championship race didn't lived up to the hype. The much anticipated battle between American Graham Rahal and Frenchman Simon Pagenaud ended early. Rahal went out due to a mechanical failure on a caution lap, whereas Pagenaud was involved in a racing incident with Forsythe's James Hinchcliffe a lap or so later. Luckily, for myself, Pagenaud parked his car right in front of my viewing position. After a few moments Pagenaud unstrapped himself from his car, helmet and walked over to the fence. He began to talk about how Hinchcliffe took him out of the race again and really believed his car could have easily won the race. Nevertheless myself and a few others congratulated him on a superb championship season. He still seemed a little disappointed at the time but after reminding him of the money and a possible elevation to Champ Car a smile came across the Frenchman's face, a (two) million dollar smile, if you will.
