Panther Racing filed three entries Feb. 28 for the 2005 Indianapolis 500,
becoming the first team to officially enter the 89th running of the world`s

2002 Indianapolis Bank One co-Rookie of the Year Tomas Scheckter and rookie
Tomas Enge were named as drivers on two of the entries, with a driver to be
named later on the third entry.
The 89th Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for Sunday, May 29 at the Indianapolis
Motor Speedway. Entries must be postmarked by midnight Wednesday, April 6.
Enge, from Liberec, Czech Republic, will drive the No. 2 Rockstar Panther Racing
Chevrolet Dallara/Chevrolet/Firestone as he attempts to make his first
Indianapolis 500 start. Steve Namisnak is the chief mechanic, and a backup car
has been entered.
Scheckter, from Cape Town, South Africa, will drive the No. 4 Pennzoil Panther
Dallara/Chevrolet/Firestone as he attempts to make his fourth career
Indianapolis 500 start. Eric Haverson is the chief mechanic, and a backup car
has been entered.
Scheckter's best finish at Indianapolis is fourth in 2003, with a best start of
10th last year and as a rookie in 2002. He was named Bank One co-Rookie of the
Year along with Alex Barron in 2002 after leading 85 of the first 172 laps for
Red Bull Cheever Racing, crashing out of the race while leading on Lap 173.
Two-time IndyCar Series champion Panther Racing also entered the No. 95 Panther
Racing Dallara/Chevrolet/Firestone, with a driver and chief mechanic to be named
later.
