Patrick Carpentier qualified in 3rd place with a lap time of 61.398 seconds /
104.427 mph.
"I'm pretty happy - third is not too bad! My first set of Bridgestones [tires]
went well but I stayed out too long at the end on my second set and got caught
in the traffic. Its more difficult to get a clean lap here, but as long as I'm
in the first few rows for the start of the race, we'll be good. I don't thi9nk
we could have got pole today, I'm sure we'll be quicker tomorrow."
Paul Tracy
#1 Indeck Forsythe Racing
Lola/Ford
Paul Tracy qualified in provisional 1st place pole position with a lap time of
60.870 seconds / 105.333mph, guaranteeing himself a front row start for the
Vancouver Molson Indy on Sunday.
"I'm very happy - we didn't start this morning with a good set up, but we
made some changes and it came much better. I knew that it gets really busy with
traffic here in Vancouver later in the session, so we set out to get a good time
early on. On my first set of Bridgestone tires I set a good time and came in to
watch the monitors for a while ... that's always a bit nerve wracking, but after
a while I went out again and backed up my early quick lap and that's great.
We've got 100 horse power less than last year and we're still almost the same
speed around the track, and that tells you what a great team I've got. And the
track is very good - it looked dirty when we walked the course last night, but
these guys cleaned it really well and it is fast! Maybe even quicker tomorrow
with more rubber on the track ... we'll see".
