In order to earn the label "Survivor" the event that a person has to endure can take many different forms. source: champcarworldseries.com - Kelly Brown For Katherine Legge it took her walking away from a spectacular looking incident at Road America and then returning to the driver's seat a few weeks later. For others like Barbara Campbell it took a battle with breast cancer, and even though it did not receive as much publicity it does not change the title she has persevered to receive. It may not seem like these two have much in common, but the same shoes that protected Katherine in her incident have now been given to Barbara and she hopes that she will be able to walk away from her battle with the same dignity and class as Katherine did. Campbell's story begins when she moved back to her hometown of Normal, Illinois with her daughter Jillian to be closer to her friends and family, after going from "Navy wife to Navy widow" six years ago. Three years later a gentleman named Scott Dennewitz started building a house next door. The two met, instantly hit it off, and became great friends. Scott and his son Trevor are big Champ Car fans so he enjoyed introducing her to the on track excitement. "After Scott moved in, I would go to his house and look at all the racing memorabilia he collected," stated Barbara. "He would explain to me and try to teach me about all the teams and drivers. I really found it enjoyable to learn about the racing and watch it."
