Champ Car world series leader Sebastien Bourdais won't risk everything but still hopes to clinch the international open wheel series when it arrives on the Gold Coast next week source: news.ninemsn.com.au The 2003 rookie of the year holds a 27-point lead over Newman-Haas team mate Bruno Junqueira with the Gold Coast Indy and the season finale in Mexico City remaining. Bourdais needs to finish eight points clear of two-time series runner up Junqueira on the Surfers Paradise street circuit to take the series. "I'm hoping we can wrap this up in Australia. I'm sure Bruno is going to be right there. It's going to be a fight until the end," Bourdais said. "I don't want to risk everything to win it in Australia. If the circumstances are all together right there to allow me to win it, then for sure I'm going to take it." Canadian driver Paul Tracy, who won his first world title on the Gold Coast last year,is in fourth place and out of championship contention. Local interest will centre on Gold Coast V8 Supercar driver David Besnard as he swaps codes to pilot a champ car. He said he'd not get in the way of the championship race but intended on putting on a good show. "I've just got to do the best job I can and hopefully end up with a decent result," he said. The motor racing festival in Surfers Paradise includes Round 11 of the V8 Supercar Championship and runs from October 21-24.
