Nor did the crowd turnout disappoint. source: paddocktalk.com - Brad Gerhart Obviously, some fans weren't able to attend due to departure and work-related issues, but a real respectable crowd made their way through the gates for the 66-lap race around the great Circuit Gilles Villeneuve road course at Montreal. Though there appeared to be minimal people in general admission areas, the majority of the grandstands were roughly 80 percent filled to capacity. A fine turnout despite the unfortunate circumstances. Monday, had further challenges with rain looming in the distance over the cloudy, damp city of Montreal. Yet Champ Car fans showed up. Championship contender A.J. Allmendinger suffered mechanical issues and his day ended in the early stages of the race. Unfortunately for him, he was leading the field when the problems occurred. His former teammate Justin Wilson, had a run-in with the wall. Both pretty much saw their championship hopes shattered before their eyes. Especially since Sebastien Bourdais would lead 40 of the 66 laps to pick-up another brilliant win. In the process, Bourdais increased his championship lead to 62 points with only three races left in the season. He may have not clinched the title yet but Bourdais is well on his way for his third consecutive Champ Car World Series title. "I guess it was a hell of a day for the championship. This McDonald's team did a mistake-free run, great pit stops. Last year we lost it as a team, and this year we won it as a team," Bourdais said.
