A flurry of changes and additions to the entry list marked the opening day of practice for the 90th Indianapolis 500 with a bunch of teams confirming their Month of May line-up on Sunday. source: crash.net While one entry, the mysterious #36 C+S Motorsports team has withdrawn itself from what would have been its first IRL IndyCar Series start, that was countered by another team doubling its attack. Playa Del Racing, in addition to announcing that Jaques Lazier will spearhead their attack in the #21 Panoz-Honda for the second consecutive season, also confirmed that they would enter a second Panoz, this the #12, for former IRL regular and current IPS campaigner Jon Herb. Playa Del already run Herb's Racing Professionals IPS entry. Former IPS Champion Thiago Medeiros will make his Indy 500 bow with veteran team PDM Racing and their traditional #18 Dallara-Honda and will join Marco Andretti and PJ Chesson in the rookie of the year class as will Townsend Bell, who has joined Vision Racing as their third entry. Stephane Gregoire will also return to the IRL scene after an absence of several years with the brand new #97 Team Leader Motorsports outfit and their Panoz-Honda. 39 entries still remain on the official entry list with 31 drivers now confirmed in their rides, leaving just eight places up for grabs.
