Heylen: I had the same feeling at Festival. Conquest Racing star banishes Zolder memories with podium at Assen. source: crash.net After the disappointment of his home event at Zolder a week ago, Jan Heylen was fired up to show the true potential of the Conquest Racing team in neighbouring Holland, and a tigerish drive was rewarded with a maiden podium. Already buoyed by his pace in pre-qualifying warm-up on Friday, the Belgian repeated the feat in Sunday morning's half-hour fine-tuning session to go into the Grand Prixof Holland confident of a good result, starting from a season's best seventh on the grid. Despite immediately embarking on a fuel-saving drive in order to maximise the number of laps between pit-stops, Heylen reclaimed the place he lost to Will Power at the start and found that he was able to catch and pass his way through the field. "We talked through it with the engineers before we started the race and I predicted that turn 15 was going to be the place where it was going to happen," he revealed, "Luckily for me, it was easy enough to do it. The car coming out of turn ten was really good. I think, every lap, I was pretty quick through six and seven and I think that's where. I made up most of my time.'' '' It allowed me to be close enough to the guy in front of me to get a good run on them coming out of ten and then to overtake him coming out of 15. I was a little surprised by how good everything was going, but it was good. It worked out."
