Katherine Legge is hoping to shrug off the disappointment of her first
Champ Car retirement and bounce back with a strong performance on a circuit she
graced with victory in last year's Toyota Atlantic championship.

The Briton had the most frustrating race of her season to date in Toronto two
weekends ago, notching her first DNF following a mechanically-induced moment
with the wall. Although she was involved in an early incident with Jan Heylen
early in the race, the result of an optimistic passing move, the 25-year old but
battled back and was running in 13th place, having set the fastest lap of the
race to that point, when a suspected differential problem sent her into the
barrier, leaving her 14th in the final result.
Legge now has 79 points towards the rookie and overall championships, leaving
her 14th overall and tied for second in the rookie race with British nemesis Dan
Clarke, trailing Will Power by six points.
A confirmed fan of both street races and the Canadian crowds, she is looking
forward to returning to Edmonton, even though she admits that the experience
will be entirely different to last year.
"This is going to be an exciting event for me, but it is a new challenge
because, even though I won there last year in the Atlantics, it is, again, going
to be the first time I have run a Champ Car on the circuit," she explained.
"Last year's Edmonton race was a great event. I was very impressed with the
crowds and the atmosphere, but particularly impressed with the fact that the
fans not only came out, but stayed on Friday in the rain!"
Ever aware of the need to promote sponsors, however, Legge admits that there are
other reasons to head for the Canadian venue.
"Obviously, I am happy that I won there last year, and I like the track, but the
biggest attraction for me is the West Edmonton Mall, which I think is the
largest in North
America!"
