IndyCar Series champion Sam Hornish Jr. declined an invitation to replace Jimmie Johnson on Team USA's entry in the Race of Champions Nations Cup in Paris this weekend because of short notice. source: indycar.com Hornish was contacted by Team USA officials after Johnson broke his wrist in a fall from a golf cart during a celebrity tournament last weekend. The NASCAR driver will attend the event but can't drive for at least four weeks. The races are Dec. 16. Formula 1 driver Scott Speed will team with X-Games champion Travis Pastrana for the races at Stade de France. Johnson teamed with Jeff Gordon and Colin Edwards to win the Nations Cup in 2002. Last year, 2005 IndyCar Series champion Dan Wheldon participated in the event. Drivers divided into teams of rally and racing use cars ranging from an Aston Martin V8 GT Rally, a Porsche RSR GT3 and a Renault Megane Trophy to compete in a series of knockout heats in their own division to determine their class champion. That's followed by a division shootout, with the winners going head-to-head in a super final.
