Carlos Munoz, who started the race on pole, won his first ever race in the Firestone Indy Lights Series on the road course at the Edmonton Municipal Airport.
The Colombian won in a dominant way; never having to look back all thru the race. Munoz continually built the gap between him and his rivals that he was able to cross the finish line with a priority of more than 8.3 seconds over his Andretti teammate Sebastian Saavedra. On the contrary, Saavedra, who started sixth, had to fight his way to the podium and had to watch over his shoulders during the late stages of the event as Esteban Guerrieri (Schmidt) tried to get around him on a few occasions. Guerrieri's teammate Oliver Webb finished fourth while Peter Dempsey (Belardi) was able to complete the top five after having successfully fought for that position with Tristan Vautier and Gustavo Yacaman just before mid-distance and never saw another car for the rest of the race. There was rather more action behind him, where Peter Dempsey, Tristan Vautier and Yacaman were. Indy Lights Edmonton race results - 40 laps Pos Driver Team Time/Gap 1.
