Alex Lloyd has agreed to complete the rest of the season in the Indy Pro Series with top team AFS Racing. source: Alex-Lloyd.com This follows on from a successful weekend at St Petersburg on the 1st and 2nd April, where he competed in the double header races. Alex qualified on the front row of the grid, and secured the team's first ever podium in race 2. Alex said "I am thrilled to be able to announce that I will be completing the year in the Indy Pro Series with AFS Racing. We got on so well at St Petersburg and it's great to continue to work together. I'm looking forward to a successful season and can't wait to get back into the car." Team Owner Gary Peterson says... "We're happy to have Alex Lloyd join our team for the 2006 season. Alex is fresh off a podium finish with AFS Racing at St. Petersburg. Alex is an exceptional talent and with Automatic Fire Sprinklers, Inc's sponsorship, Alex will get the break he's been working for. We are taking our rookie driver to the Kentucky Speedway on April 23rd for his first test on an oval. After the rookie test, it's on to test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in preparation for the Freedom 100 race on May 26th (Miller Lite Carb Day at the Speedway). As a driver myself, I know the first time Alex walks through Gasoline Alley to the car he will be awed stepping on the hallowed grounds of the most famous raceway in the world. Going into turn one for the first time will be a memory he will never forget." Looking forward to the coming weeks Alex predicted "Indy will be a fantastic weekend. To be racing on the same bill as the Indy 500 is something quite special. It will be a tough race given that I have no prior experience on ovals but I'm sure I can get to grips with it quickly and am looking forward to another successful weekend."
