Veteran race car driver Paul Tracy has signed a five-race deal with Jay Penske as he tries to get back into the IndyCar series for more than just the celebrated Indy 500.
Jay Penske’s team Luczo Dragon Racing was forced to sit on the sidelines when sponsorship couldn’t be raised for Tony Kanaan. But because Penske Jr. did not want to see his team close its doors, he spent the last month in search of dollars. Tracy, who will make his return to the series in Long Beach in three weeks, has Motegi Wheels on board along with a couple of other associates to be named later. Dragon Racing is currently scheduled to run Long Beach. Texas, Toronto, Edmonton and Sonoma with Tracy, plus the Indianapolis 500. The Canadian had already signed with Dreyer & Reinbold to race the Indy 500. So Dragon Racing might consider putting in the car former IRL champ Sam Hornish, a former driver of Roger Penske, or Bruno Junqueira or 2004 Indy 500 winner Buddy Rice.
