RACER’s magazine Marshall Pruett revealed that Swiss driver Simona De Silvestro is in talks to make a return in the Verizon IndyCar series.
De Silvestro raced Indy cars during four years until she returned home early 2014 with hopes to secure a seat with the Sauber Formula 1 team. Unfortunately, that plan did not work out, and the Swiss split with her manager. De Silvestro told RACER that her efforts to secure the sponsorship she'll need to land with a competitive IndyCar team have been making steady progress. "Things are going in the right direction, but nothing is sure yet, and we continue to work on finding sponsorship to make it happen," the 26-year-old explained. "That's our focus, and there's a lot of talks happening. There's nothing to announce yet but we're working to make something come together." There are a number the seats available for her. She could driver on a part-time basis for Andretti Autosport (sharing a car with several other drivers, including NASCAR’s Kurt Busch). The Swiss is also apparently in talks with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports about becoming a possible teammate alongside Canadian James Hinchcliffe.
