It should be an interesting outing in Indy. According to the Indy Star, the IRL
is meeting with its engine manufacturers to discuss the future. A future which
is thought to be announced somewhere around the May time frame since the
manufacturers typically like a 18-month window to prepare for a season.
It should be an interesting meeting since Honda's general manager, Robert
Clarke, is already pointing publically at the IRL. And it isn't praise he's
pointing to.
He told the Indy Star, "I told them that keeping Chevy (beyond the 2005 season)
should be their top priority. Bringing in someone new will be more difficult
than keeping Chevy, and both are going to be very difficult, it seems."
The article also indicated the engine costs are up to nearly $2 million per car.
$2 million is pocket change in F1. But in the IRL it's a big issue because the
payback from TV ratings isn't getting the job done.

The parties are about to begin to reach a solution for the betterment of
openwheel racing in the United States...or they will fail ?
