According to reports, Brazilian and two-time winner of the Indy 500,
Helio Castroneves, is about to commit the IndyCar series by signing a multi-year agreement to remain with
Penske. Castroneves started out with the team in 2000 while still in the Cart Series.
His long time association with the IRL and his decision to stay was well received by the series brass.
Roger Penske originally signed Castroneves for 2000 after the death of their intended driver Greg Moore in an accident at the end of the 1999 season. He has remained with the team ever since, winning a total of 18 races in Champ Car and IndyCar, including the 2001 and 2002 Indy 500s.
