A series of weird video clips were posted on YouTube recently. One of them shows two burglers breaking into the garages, loading Danica Patrick Indy car into a trailer and driving off the famed Indianapolis circuit in the middle of the night.
Web site f1network.net noticed the postage of these video clips that appear too good to be genuine. One clip consists from the footage of the security camera and shows the entire break-in inside the garage and the loading of the racecar inside a trailer. A group of "burglers" audaciously drove up to the loading docks and drove off with the Motorola-sponsored car of Danica Patrick! Another clip is supposed to be a genuine "TV news report" about the break-in. The filming is clearly not news quality (in fact, it is too perfect to be true) and no specific network or station ('Action News"?) is mentioned as being the source of this clip. This looks like a coup to create some hype around Danica Patrick and the 93rd running of the Indianapolis 500. Could it be designed to create some interest about the appearance of the new sponsor and livery just in time for practice? Last month, team McLaren and sponsor Vodafone performed a similar coup in posting a video showing a trackside Lewis Hamilton driving his McLaren using a cell phone. Photos: IndyCar Series
