This weekend's Indy Racing League IndyCar Series 2006 finale offers even more intrigue than the point battle. source: paddocktalk.com - Feature by Anne Proffit While there are 21 points separating the quartet of red-car competitors, the issue of who will be driving what is even more intriguing than the championship fight. The ladies will be going at it again, as Sarah Fisher makes a second stab in the Dreyer & Reinbold Dallara/Honda/Firestone entry. Although Fisher has been away from the League for quite a while performing for Richard Childress in West Coast stock car races, her heart never left the IRL. Sarah put up a solid performance at Kentucky in her ICS return and should do the same at Chicagoland this coming weekend. Dario Franchitti has, for the second time in his IRL IndyCar Series career, managed to "fun" himself out of the seat of his #27 Andretti Green Racing Dallara. The Scot was driving a lightweight Jaguar in last weekend's Goodwood Revival races in England and managed to crash, sustaining a concussion that will keep him out of the cockpit this weekend. A motorcycle accident in his home country sidelined Franchitti for the first part of his 2003 rookie season. AGR had plenty of substitute drivers to choose from for their Klein Tools/Canadian Club entry; they chose to place A.J. Foyt IV in the driver's seat. While some might scoff at the idea, having seen the kid's resume (no wins or poles and only three top-10 results), please recall that Anthony has been saddled with some of the least attractive options in the IRL paddock. Foyt has driven his grandpa A.J. Foyt Jr.'s entries since winning the inaugural Indy Pro Series crown in 2002. While the elder Foyt has been amongst the best racers of the prior century, he hasn't had a chance in the current League because of an abject absence of money and the savvy personnel it buys.
