The City and Grand Prix Association of Long Beach have announced that Jimmy Vasser and Target Chip Ganassi Racing, both winners of the Grand Prix of Long Beach, will be introduced to Long Beach's Walk of Fame on April 14th.
“Jimmy Vasser and the Target Chip Ganassi Racing team have made legendary contributions to the field of motorsports, and I am delighted that they are being honored in the Motorsports Walk of Fame,” said Mayor Bob Foster, who will be presenting the medallions to the honorees. Vasser, co-owner of the KV Racing Technology IRL Team, has won the Grand Prix on the year of his CART Championship, in 1996, and then again in 2010 during the Celebrity Race. Target Chip Ganassi Racing has five Grand Prix wins in 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2009. The team also counts three Indy 500 wins in 2000, 2008 and 2010. Team owner Chip Ganassi won the Daytona 500, Indy 500, Brickyard 400 and the Rolex 24 at Daytona in a period of one year, in 2010-2011.
