Team Penske earned its 50th pole since they joined the IRL series in 2002 on the Edmonton circuit yesterday and it was their fourth consecutive pole position since Watkins Glen.
This time it was Ryan Briscoe's turn to finish the fastest while his teammate Helio Castroneves completed the 1-2 Penske first row. KV Racing Technologies drivers continued to do well as both of them, Oriol Servia and Will Power, set respectively the third and fifth time. Current IndyCar series' leader Scott Dixon came in fourth. Six of the first ten drivers qualified are former Champ Car drivers with another great performance from Dale-Coyne Racing placing Bruno Junquiera and Mario Moraes 7th and 10th on the starting grid. Returning Canadian Paul Tracy had a disappointing session. He will start 16th, two places behind Watkins Glen winner Ryan Hunter-Reay, who crashed his Rahal Letterman Dallara-Honda in the final seconds of first qualifying session. Pos Driver Team Time 1.
