After a short string of street courses in the 2007 Champ Car Grand Prix schedule, Jan Heylen (#34 Grafiprint / Cosworth / DP01 / Bridgestone) is ready to return to the winding road course at Road America. source: conquestracing.com The past three rounds of the Champ Car World Series were held on the street which made for a very different driving experience than the fourteen sweeping corners and fast stretches of a classic circuit like Road America in Elkhart Lake but Jan is prepared to improve his 2006 ninth place performance. In 2006, Conquest Racing's Charles Zwolzman, put up the second fastest time during the provisional qualifying session which enabled him to start in third position for the race on Sunday. He eventually finished seventh but led the race for a short time early on in the event. Jan and the rest of the Conquest Racing team were able to get two days of testing at Elkhart Lake into their busy schedule back in mid-June. This was a very informative test where the entire team was able to gain more knowledge about the 4.048-mile track carved out of 525 acres of Wisconsin farmland as well as the DP01 car. The race this weekend will be the first of four different road courses featured in the second half of the 2007 Champ Car Season. "I am really looking forward the Road America road course since it is one of my favorite tracks in the U.S.," said Heylen. "This weekend is the first of three consecutive road courses coming up in the schedule and is a very technically challenging course with fast corners and high speed straights so my skills as a driver will be pushed to the limit. The Conquest Team and I had two days of testing here in June and have run a few races since then so now I feel confident that we have a good base setup and are prepared for this weekend." Charity on the Race Course: In addition to the race this weekend at Road America, Jan will be participating in the Tour de Road America which will give him the opportunity to see the track from another perspective, on his bicycle. The Tour de Road America benefits the Lance Armstrong Foundation and gives fans, race teams, families and cancer survivors the chance to ride around the Road America track together for up to 40 miles. This event will take place at 6:30 p.m. EST on Friday, August 10th after the day's on-track events.
