source: jarek-janis.cz Jarek Janis will go down to the Czech motorsport history on Sunday as the first Czech driver to compete with Dale Coyne Racing in the Champ Car World Series race at Gold Coast. The deal was agreed after the test at Putnam where Janis did almost 300 km. His performance convinced the team to give him a chance in the race and his debut start is taking place at street track Suerfers Paradise in Gold Coast. This race traditionally attracts a big attention of Australian fans and the weekend total number is normally over 300 000. Surfers Paradise is also known that it often brings unexpected results and 13 Champ Car races have 13 different winners. The biggest attention will be focused on the championship fight. Sebastien Bourdais is the only driver who could clinch the title after the penultimate race. Janis usually goes well at street tracks - he was debut race Euro F3000 at Cagliari in 2002 and one year later was fourth at Monaco in FIA F3000 International Championship. Janis went to Texas after the test at Putnam and saw the last race of the IRL season where Tomas Enge, who is also managed by Antonin Charouz, competed. Jarek Janis: "I can not wait to get out in Friday's practice. Champ Car is one of the best open wheel series in the world and I am very thankful to my manager Antonin Charouz and the team Dale Coyne Racing that they have given me this opportunity. I know the track at Gold Coast only from a computer game but it is helpful because I know how the corners are. However, the fact is that nothing is as good as a direct reconnaissance. I am sure that I will go round the track with my engineer on Wednesday or Thursday. The team work very well and they try to help me as much as possible. I am not worried that I will debut on a street track - I like this type of tracks and usually go well there. The most important thing will be to do as many laps as possible in the practice. This is important not only to get used to the car more but also to work on the setup. Driving the car is quite tough physically but I have been training very hard for the whole year, so it should not be a problem. It is difficult to tell a specific target for the whole weekend because without experience is difficult to guess how competitive the teams will be. First of all we need to finish the race and if I was in the top ten I would be very happy."
