Jourdain's lap of 59.937 (119.339mph) earns him a bonus point for being on provisional pole, and a guaranteed front row starting position. "I wouldn't mind if it rained tomorrow!" said the Mexican. In second and third places - and separated by one thousandth of a second - were American Spirit teammates Ryan Hunter-Reay and Jimmy Vasser, in their Reynards. But Hunter-Reay was later disqualified from the session for being underweight, and moved back 19th. Oriol Servia is third on the overnight grid. Jourdain's lap of 59.937 (119.339mph) earns him a bonus point for being on provisional pole, and a guaranteed front row starting position. "This feels great," said Jourdain. "The car is very good. We learned a lot of things in Long Beach, especially with the road course tire. It also gives us confidence know that whatever happens in qualifying tomorrow, we have a front row start position.
