Junqueira participated in his first test day with Newman/Haas Racing source: CART.com At the 1.65-mile road course at Sebring International, Raceway Bruno was able to complete more than 250 trouble-free miles in the new Lilly Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone package that the team will prepare for the 2003 Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford season. "For my first day of on-track running with the team, we were able to accomplish a lot," said Junqueira. "It's hard to compare your progress when there is only one other car on track but the day went smoothly. The track seemed to slow down from the previous day but we will run again on Friday and continue to make progress. I didn't notice much of a difference with the reduced horsepower. The driveability of the 2003 package was good. Today was just the first of many test days with the team and I am looking forward to more time with everyone before the season starts. Newman/Haas Racing is obviously the team to beat this season and I'm looking forward to the challenge." Junqueira will begin his third season in the Championship Auto Racing Team's (CART) premier series in 2003 and first at NHR. Junqueira was the runner-up in the 2002 CART Championship to NHR driver and fellow Belo Horizonte, Brazil, native Cristiano da Matta after winning races in Japan and Denver, finishing on the podium six times and earning four pole positions.
