Englishman Justin Wilson finished second for the fourth time in five races this season but despite being beaten to the top step of the podium the Sheffield based racer was happy with his performance in Sunday's Grand Prix of Portland. source: crash.net Wilson spent virtually the entire 105-lap race chasing his former RuSPORT teammate AJ Allmendinger around the 1.964-mile Portland International Raceway, getting to within one second of the young American driver before a late race vibration forced him back into the clutches of Sebastien Bourdais, who finished behind the #9 CDW Lola for the first time this season. "The entire #9 CDW team worked extremely hard all weekend and I'm pleased with the result", said Wilson, who gained a solitary point on Bourdais in the title chase and now lies 30 points behind the Frenchman in second spot overall. "After the first stops it seemed like we did 105 laps of qualifying pace, every lap was flat. "I got very close to making a move on A.J. in turn one and locked up the right front for some reason. We decided to pit early and that caused us to have a long last stint, which ultimately hurt us. Fortunately I was able to stay ahead of Sebastien and claim second place". Wilson will get another chance at breaking onto the top step of the podium for the first time this year next weekend in Cleveland.
