Looking to advance source: indycar.com / Dave Lewandowski Phil Giebler, Richie Hearn and Roberto Moreno - who will share Row 11 in the 91st Indianapolis 500 -- can point to some notable worst to almost first performances as motivation. Since World War II, how about: . Jim Rathmann, 32nd to second in 1957 . Tom Sneva, 33rd to second in 1980 . Gary Bettenhausen, 32nd to third in 1980 . Mario Andretti, 32nd to second in 1981 . Scott Goodyear 33rd to second in 1992 Giebler, whose Playa Del Racing crew was pushed to repair the No. 31 Ethos Fuel Reformulator Panoz/Honda/Firestone after it crashed on the fourth lap of his qualifying attempt May 19, qualified on Bump Day (33rd) with a four-lap average speed of 219.637 mph. The day didn't start out well for the rookie, who locked the keys in his rental car. "They worked real hard and never got discouraged," Giebler said of the Playa Del Racing crew. "They stayed as late as they needed to, got there as early as they needed to. They gave me a good car today. It felt great. I'm really happy for them, more than anything. "These guys are awesome. They pulled me up from the Indy Pro Series, and they believe in me and I believe in them. It's a good match. It really shows what the team is made of and even the other teams that helped out with parts and stuff like that, it means a lot to me. I didn't want to disappoint them." The sentiment was shared by Hearn, who qualified 32nd (219.860) in the No. 91 Hemelgarn/Racing Professionals Dallara/Honda/Firestone. "I know Ron (Hemelgarn) loved this place, but he sold all his cars to Racing Professionals and Jon Herb," said Hearn, who will make his seventh start. "I think he decided he wanted to do it again. He leased this car back from Jon, but unfortunately Jon had an accident last week so they had to put it together. Ron just called me. He knew I was coming here for a ride. We kept working on it and working on it. I tried to find some money, but none of my deals came through. "Jon and Ron Hemelgarn decided to do it anyways and really stuck their necks out for me. I have to thank them. Hopefully, I can give them a good race next week and have a good run." Moreno, who for a time was on the bubble on Bump Day, had his time from May 19 withdrawn by team owner Tom Chastain. He came back with an effort 4 mph quicker. Moreno is filling the seat of Stephan Gregoire, who suffered a fracture of the T3 vertebrae in a practice crash earlier in the week. Moreno, who last competed in the 500-Mile Race in 1999, had limited time in the No. 77 Chastain Motorsports car. "I'm so glad that I got this opportunity," he said. "Stephan is doing well. He will be back racing again. Thank you to the Chastain family gave me this opportunity. It's an honor. One day, you are nobody sitting at home. Some people think I am too old and I don't have any more left. But do not forget my spirit. It is so young, my strong desire to succeed. I am 48 years old, and today I feel great. I did it. We got in. I love this place."
