Legge laments another spectacular exit. source: crash.net Katherine Legge's race ends in flames when he car catches fire whilst being fuelled. Katherine Legge's affiliation with the Road America circuit remains one of dismal luck when her Dale Coyne Racing car caught fire during its final pit stop. Almost as spectacular as her exit from the 2006 race when a rear-wing failure induced a horror smash during the latter stages, Legge made was taking on fuel when the fuel cell split and caused an inferno. Although perhaps not as bitter as her retirement from sixth position last year, Legge had been struggling to get the most out of her through the weekend. Even so, the Brit was on for a finish before she was forced to evacuate her car before the fire took hold. Jokingly blaming that pink is clearly not her lucky colour, Legge is now looking ahead to the return to Europe for the rounds at Zolder and Assen where she is hoping for better fortunes. This is the second time I've been really lucky here at Road America. It must be the pink car. Maybe I will have to bring another colour car here next year. We spent most of the race trying to eliminate issues that were giving us problems on the car so that we can be ready for Europe in two weeks. "When we came in for our last stop the fuel cell in the car split and that is what cause the fire in the engine. All I heard was get out of the car and I unbuckled and got the heck out. When I got out to a safe area that is when the fire really intensified. I'm ok and I'm so glad that everyone on my crew was alright too. I can't wait to go to Belgium and Holland for our next two races."
