While at least one publication was indicating that Katherine Legge's Champ Car future would be known by Christmas, the latest report from the St. Petersburg Times is putting a much longer time frame on the decision... source: paddocktalk.com - rumors Anywhere from three to six weeks. But wait, there's more.... If Katherine is to claim the PKV seat, she'll be competing against quite a few of the boys... Jimmy Vasser told the publication there is a list of 20 drivers they are evaluating, including himself and da Matta. The PaddockTalk Perspective: As we indicated before the Christmas break, there might be a surprise at PKV racing... and that surprise might not be Katherine. We'd suggest the following. PKV team owner Kevin Kalkhoven wants a winning Champ Car team. He will hire the best drivers his team can find. We might even see another Champ Car test with a bunch of drivers wearing the Gulfstream side pods. With that in mind, what makes the most sense regarding Legge is to ease her into a Champ Car by PKV signing her, and letting her run with one of the backmarkers. And although it isn't usually done, maybe she could run a limited Champ Car schedule along with a full season in Atlantics.
