Following the recent announcement by Champ Car regarding their future chassis supply, Lola Cars International would like to make the following statement. source: lolacars.com Lola have been building Champ Cars in their various guises since the late 1970's. In the time since Lola was acquired by Martin Birrane, the company conquered the competitive marketplace and went on to supply the entire grid with exciting and challenging race cars. The level of mutual respect, professionalism and technical partnership with the organisation and the teams has been a shared experience over this long period of time. There was no better illustration of this, than in the last four years, when Lola provided absolute support of the re‑generated series in difficult times and at a significant cost to itself. As ever in the global motorsport marketplace, Lola offered a very competitive tender but forces beyond the control of the company meant that the partnership came to a conclusion. Lola would like to take this opportunity to wish Champ Car every success for its future and for a continuation of spirited competition that it is renowned for throughout the world. Lola Group Executive Chairman, Martin Birrane said: "I have great admiration for the way Kevin Kalkhoven and his colleagues have picked up the challenges of Champ Car since they have taken over, although I am surprised at their decision not to choose Lola as their partner for the 2007 series. Looking forward, Lola has embarked on several successful programmes for 2005 and beyond. The A1 Grand Prix series, Formula Nippon and LMP1 sportscars are just three projects that have been or are about to be launched. Lola's existing Formula Three and LMP2 sportscars have enjoyed noteworthy success this season and associated businesses within the Lola Group are flourishing. Lola continue to be a world leader in many industries which is a result of sound business principles providing technical innovation and excellence."
