With the agreement, the Auto Club will continue to sponsor the very popular Auto
Club Lifestyle Expo, free to all race ticket holders, featuring the latest in
action sports demonstrations, games, simulators, automotive displays, and
recreation and entertainment products. This year's Ansari X Prize winner,
SpaceShipOne, was displayed publicly for the first time at the 2004 Expo.
SpaceShipOne won the $10 million prize, meant to develop vehicles for commercial
space flight, earlier this month after flying into space twice in a one-week
period.
The Automobile Club of Southern California has been a sponsor of the Grand Prix
since 1994 and the Lifestyle Expo since 1998.
"The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach is one of the premier sporting events in
Southern California," said Michael A Johnson, Vice President of Marketing and
Product Development for the Auto Club. "Accordingly, the Toyota Grand Prix
serves as an outstanding venue for the Automobile Club of Southern California to
maximize its brand awareness, showcase many products and services and sign up
new members."
Auto Club members will again have the opportunity to purchase Grand Prix tickets
at a special discount.
