INDIANAPOLIS - CART has scheduled a two-day open test available at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California. source: CART.com The open sessions are slated for Saturday, January 25, and Sunday, January 26, on the historic 2.238-mile permanent road course in the California countryside that has played host to Champ Car racing since 1983. Four sessions, totaling 13 hours of on-track activity, are scheduled at Laguna Seca where Champ Car open tests have been staged four of the past five years. The Champ Car test comes on the heels of Laguna Seca's upcoming January 17th unveiling of its new premier pit row suites and garages. CART President and CEO Christopher R. Pook is scheduled to be on hand for this Friday's unveiling ceremonies. The premier pit row improvements will consist of 12 state-of the-art suites, situated on top of 10 double-car garages. The new complex represents Phase 1 of a major capital improvement campaign for the facility. The full complement of Champ Car teams and drivers competing in the 2003 Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford will be unveiled at Champ Car Spring Training events held in St. Petersburg, Florida, February 2-3, and nearby Sebring International Raceway, February 4-6.
