After turning only left two weeks ago in Milwaukee, the Mi-Jack Conquest Racing Team will be turning right again this weekend at Portland International Raceway in Portland, Oregon. source: champcarworldseries.com The 1.969-mile permanent road course will play host to the 105 lap G.I. Joe's Presents the Champ Car Grand Prix of Portland where Andrew Ranger will be looking to defend his third place in the championship standings. Andrew Ranger and his Mi-Jack Conquest Racing Team left Milwaukee two weeks ago in fourth place in the standings but climbed up one position to third following a penalty handed out by Champ Car to former Forsythe driver Mario Dominguez. With 75 points, Ranger is 30 points behind the second place of RuSPORT driver Justin Wilson. First place is held by four time winner this season, Sebastien Bourdais of Newman/Haas. 19-year-old Ranger is looking to continue his streak of top-sevens this weekend. Last season in Portland, the young Canadian put in his second best performance of 2005 by finishing seventh. "The performance we had in our last road course race, in Monterrey, is a good confidence builder heading to Portland. It's a track I like and I had a good weekend there last year, I'm sure the Conquest Team will do well again. They have been doing a great job and we've been improving at each race," said Ranger. "My objective is always the same, to score as many points as possible and I would really like to maintain my third place in the Championship." Teammate Charles Zwolsman obtained his best Champ Car career finish with a ninth place at the Milwaukee Mile two weeks ago in his first oval race, but looks forward to getting back out on a road course, a familiar territory for the Dutchman. The Champ Car rookie competed in two races last season at Portland International Raceway in the Atlantic Series, qualifying second and third and finishing second and eighth despite a damaged front wing.
