Eric Bachelart - Team Owner: "MJCR heads to Mexico with confidence after
completing some valuable testing in Portland with both cars. Last year in
Monterrey, we qualified 3rd so we have a good set-up base. The crews and
engineers have been working endless hours and will for sure show the results at
the Monterrey Grand Prix. It's a special week for us, as will be announcing a
new sponsor for car # 34."
Nelson Philippe - Driver Mi-Jack Conquest Racing Lola-Ford #34
Nelson approaches the Monterrey race with previous experience on the 2.104-mile
permanent road course. This will be Nelson's third start in Monterrey:
In 2003, in the Barber Dodge Pro Series, Nelson started 11th and finished 5th in
his second Barber Dodge start.
In 2004, in the Champ Car World Series, he gained a remarkable seven positions
from his 17th place start to finishing 10th in his second Champ Car career
start. Nelson passed many veterans in the field to score his first top-ten
finish. Nelson, who is fluent in Spanish having spent several years in
Argentina, was impressed by the enthusiastic fans that attended the race and how
they made it a special event for three full days.
In 2005, in the Champ Car World Series with Mi-Jack Conquest Racing - Lola-Ford
#34.
