The Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford is always a huge draw in Canada and last year was no exception as the series drew more than 500,000 fans to its events north of the border. source: champcarworldseries.com But that number was only half of that drawn by the first-year Champ Car Radio Network in Canada, which provided live coverage of last season's Champ Car World Series races in Toronto and Montreal to more than 1,000,000 listeners. Buoyed by the response in its inaugural season, the Champ Car Radio Network will produce live and taped coverage of the July 9 Molson Grand Prix of Toronto and the August 29 Molson Indy Montreal "We heard from a number of our Canadian fans last year about how happy they were to be able to follow the Champ Car races from Toronto and Montreal on the Champ Car Radio Network," said Champ Car President Steve Johnson. "We encourage as many people as possible to come witness the events first-hand, but the Champ Car Radio Network is the next best thing to attending the event, bringing the listener into the heart of the action. The broadcast will feature trackside reports and will be highlighted by live coverage of qualifying and race sessions throughout Canada and will feature a veteran lineup that includes Raceline Radio host Erik Tomas, 1998 Champ Car Atlantic champion Lee Bentham along with Todd Lewis and Bart Murphy. "We're excited to be working with Champ Car, for the second consecutive year, bringing compelling coverage of the events to listeners throughout the country." said Aflalo Communications President Marc Aflalo. "Our affiliates are thrilled to be carrying the coverage, and like last year, we'll be in the heart of the action covering every second of the action." Aflalo Communications and Wise Broadcasting are currently finalizing their affiliate lineup for the two Canadian races, and will be announcing them in the near future.
