IRL President Brian Barnhart has been a hot interview this week, and appears to be upbeat about the future of his series. source: paddocktalk.com - rumors Even the car count. While admiting the obvious that the IndyCar series has 16 teams locked and signed for the 2006 season, he's not worried. He told the Indianapolis Star that he expects between 18-20 cars throughout the 2007 season, and maybe 21. He also indicated that former IRL IndyCar team owner Larry Cahill may race in the series again with sports car driver Milka Duno. Some might say the 'poster' girl, would be a 'hot' commodity. Though not stated anywhere, maybe keep an eye on the potential of Citgo coming along for the ride. The PaddockTalk Perspective: More cars in any of the open-wheel racing series is a good thing!! As for more woman at the wheel, we were a bit surprised that Sarah Fisher's re-entry into the IndyCar series late last season didn't create a much larger fan and media stir. She has a very strong following, and was the IRL's most popular driver before departing for stock cars. But then again, unless all three of these women race at the Indianapolis 500 in 2007, the rest of the United States won't know a thing about them.
