Mario Dominguez has undoubtedly received some nice
Christmas presents throughout his 27 years. but none can compare to his latest
one. The 2002 CART "Rookie of the Year" recently found out he's got
Roberto Moreno as a teammate for 2003.
Keith Wiggins, the managing director and minority partner for Herdez
Competition, confirmed that Moreno has been signed to run alongside Dominguez in
the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford.
It's a win-win-win situation for Dominguez, Herdez and CART.
"It's going to be a great help for Mario and it will help the team as
well," said Wiggins. "From the standpoint of CART, it also gives them
another known driver and a guy who is really good with the fans and media.
"We're still working on a few deals to make it secure, but we're
definitely running two cars in 2003 and Roberto starts testing next week at
Sebring."
At the end of last season, it was rumored Moreno might be joining Herdez in
2003 and Dominguez reasoned a teammate would really help his progress.
"It's tough to be by yourself, competing against all these two-car teams
and I know a teammate would really benefit my situation," he said.
"Somebody with Moreno's experience would be perfect.
