source: nelsonphilippe.com / sportimage.net For his first race of the season with the Mi-Jack Conquest Racing team, Nelson Philippe, La Filière FFSA 2005 member, finishes the Long Beach Grand Prix, California, this Sunday, April 10. Nelson did a good start, keeping his starting grid position until the eighth lap when he has been involved in a racing incident, loosing the rear wing of his car. Having taken the start from the eighth line, Philippe was hit in the lap eight by teammate Andrew Ranger and forced to pit to make repairs to the rear of his #34 Mi-Jack Conquest Racing Lola-Cosworth. 18 laps were necessary to repair the car of the 18 year-old driver. Nelson Philippe decided to come back on track to complete the race: '' I felt a smooth shock to the rear. I've been able to come back to the pits. I wanted to prove that I could finish this first race of the season and especially the car was reliable. It seems we don't have encountered our preseason targets this weekend with the team but the season is even long with 13 races remaining. Today, we need to look in front of us '' explains Nelson at the end of the race. The next event of the 2005 Champ Car World Series will taking place May 22, in Monterrey, Mexico. A testing session at Portland Raceway to increase the set-up of the car should be scheduled for Nelson Philippe and the Mi-Jack team before that event. Long Beach Grand Prix final results
