The Champ Car World Series has turned to one of the most experienced sports
production companies in North America to broadcast races from the 2005 schedule,
with Molson Sports & Entertainment Inc stepping up from its coverage of the
Canadian rounds to oversee the entire season.
The Molson company already broadcasts live coverage from the National Hockey
League, Major League Baseball, CFL and Arena Football as well as the North
American Soccer League and world championship boxing. Previous motorsport
involvements include coverage of offshore powerboat racing.
"Our primary concern heading into the 2005 season was to find a way to improve
the scope and quality of our television broadcasts," explained Champ Car
president Dick Eidswick, "Our new agreement with Molson Sports & Entertainment
will provide our fans around the world with first-class coverage of Champ Car
racing at every event. Combining their production with our new multi-year
network deals with NBC and CBS, as well as live European coverage
with Eurosport and Eurosport 2, we believe we are giving our fans
one of the strongest television packages available."
In preparation for the new season, Molson is expected to assemble a 'new'
presentation team, with its stated 'first order of business' being to produce
in-depth interviews with the drivers at next month's Spring Training session. In
addition to the race production, the company will also assist in the production
of post-session video news releases, as well as the popular satellite media tour
on Sunday nights at the circuits.
