"We are definitely the Odd Couple," says the 78-year-old bearded guy with those famous blue eyes as he pats his 75-year-old partner on the back. Paul Newman and Carl Haas are one the longest running and most successful acts in American motorsports. They started out in CART with Mario Andretti in 1983 and, 20 years later, they're still together at the front of the field. "I didn't think it would last two or three years," said Haas, breaking into a rare grin after he and Newman celebrated their 350th start in Champ Cars on Sunday in Denver. Carl could muster up a chuckle because his talented tandem of Bruno Junqueira and Sebastien Bourdais had just finished 1-2 in the Centrix Financial Grand Prix of Denver. It was the 73rd triumph for Newman-Haas Racing in Champ Cars and they appeared to be just as giddy as the first time Mario put them in victory lane.
